Question: We just moved to the neighborhood a few weeks ago. My husband and I are looking for an occasional babysitter (mostly evenings - once or twice a month) for our two sons, ages 2 and half and 5 months. We'd take the baby with us the first few times, so it would just be our older son. Are there any high school aged sitters, or others, in the neighborhood who'd be interested in babysitting?

Question: Many people in the Rosslyn-Vienna corridor are concerned about unchecked highrise dense development in which there seems to be little concern for preserving and including green spaces & views...instead developers w/ council blessing are building dark concrete canyons w/ no offsets...can't find sunlite anymore, noise pollution from reverberations of a/c units off walls is terrible, people are starig into other's apts, can't get on a metro during rush hours because of the crowds..will only get worse if they develop Vienna....lime-minded citizens need to band together to emulate Pince George's County in deferring development until it really is planned smartly....who is out there that is doing this? I suggest someone active in this get folks from these different communities together e.g. PG folks, Melissa Bondi Mary Renkey William S. Elliott Mark Tipton Sierra Club Coalition for a Smarter Growth and those of us in the Williamsburg and elsewhere - also need to get the Wash Post to really investigate the money flow of developers, political campaigns, use of $$ for green spaces, overcrowding on the metro and how the Vienna plan would affect an already congested system....so how can anyone approve zoning for more density until that is resolved etc....

Question: I want to talk to other residents about Giant Foods recent implemntation of in-store, loudspeaker advertising and what we can do to stop it. I find them to be a rude, obnoxious, intrusion into my personal space. I know that many other people do too because Iv'e talked to the staff there, who told me that lots of other people have complained. I have written a letter to Giant about it and got a response. But it will take many people complaining before they will stop. I would like to hear from any Lyon Village residents who share my feelings and from anyone anywhere else who shops at the Giant and would like to help get them to put a sock in it. If we can do this maybe we could get CVS and Safeway to see the light. Thanks, Doug Crouch

If anyone has responded to a flyer from this company, please don't write any checks! And contact Detective Cupka of the Arlington County police. He would be interested in hearing from you because the two crooks running this scam, Mark Parrish and Dave Ulrich, will ask for partial payment before doing any work and you will likely never see them again.
